Milan Jayne Jones is a local artist
renowned for her beautiful and distinctive African animal paintings.
Milan
was born and educated in Hong Kong. She came to live in Australia in
1981, spending a decade in West Australia before moving to Queensland
with her family in 1992.
Upon arriving on the Gold Coast an inspired Milan
discovered her artistic talent, initially establishing herself with pastels
before moving into acrylics.
Milan still loves working in both mediums
but, for the interest of the traveller to whom she sells most of her
paintings, it is easier to pack and travel with a canvas acrylic painting
than it is to pack a framed pastel picture.
Her interest in conservation and
wildlife extends well beyond the canvas and she spends as much time as
possible visiting zoos and poring over the photos of world-leading wildlife
photographers to choose her subjects.
For the past five years Milan’s
artworks have been purchased by people from all over the world, but at
the end of the day she essentially paints with genuine feeling and love for
the natural beauty of Africa and her subjects.
